HERPES ORAL. SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS Most children who have oral herpes infections are asymptomatic or have only a small pain in the neck and few injuries in the mouth.
When the infection reaches a critical stage and have erociones ulcers throughout the mouth, from the lips, tongue and cheeks to the back of the throat. * There are other viral or allergic diseases that may seem like a herpes infection. If you are not sure consult your doctor.
The most important aspect of treatment is to ensure that your child drink normally due to fever increases the fluid needs. Liquids smooth as apple juice, or a mild broth are generally easier to take.having an ice cream also relieves the discomfort. Avoid acidic juices and salty or spicy foods. If your child is severely affected, your doctor can use intravenous serum to prevent dehydration.
Exams and Tests
Diagnosis is made on the basis of the appearance or culture of the lesion. Examination may also show enlargement of lymph nodes in the neck or groin.
Viral culture or Tzanck test of the skin lesion may reveal the herpes simplex virus.
Treatment
Untreated, the symptoms will generally subside in 1 to 2 weeks. Antiviral medications given by mouth may shorten the course of the symptoms and decrease pain.
Sores caused by herpes often come back again and again. The antiviral medicines work best if you take it when the virus is just starting to come back — before you see any sores. If you the virus returns frequently, your doctor may recommend that you take the medicines all the time.
Wash blisters gently with soap and water to minimize the spread of the virus to other areas of skin. An antiseptic soap may be recommended. Applying ice or warmth to the area may reduce pain.

Zovirax is an antiviral drug. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus so that the body can fight off the infection. Zovirax will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection. Zovirax is used to treat infections caused by herpes viruses. Illnesses caused by herpes viruses include genital herpes, cold sores, shingles, and chicken pox.
